So my friend recently applied for Airtel Black ₹699 (Fiber + DTH). I told him that Airtel is launching IPTV soon so maybe he should wait and see. Today when the technicians visited, my friend asked them about IPTV. The technician immediately replied that they're aware of it and when it's launched, if needed, they can replace the DTH with IPTV without any extra charge.
Airtel Fiber and Airfiber users shifted iptv, disconnects dish. Its mandatory after launch due to biggest merger on the way in the DTH sector.

IPTV cannot reach nook and corner as like DTH. Airtel can't stay away from DTH, if so it would be a big loss to them. DTH or digital cable is still preferable than IPTV or IFTV. When our mobile itself struggles during rain or congestion how these Airfibers would survive and serve the purpose?
In order to bring down and operational cost we may need a technology to collate all channels into a single transponder and feed them to customers like digital cable tv instead of using so many dedicated transponders. I wish there would be some new technology to be explored in future to reduce the costs.

They can't leave DTH business, they want to reduce satellite costs with merging of another big player.

I think Airtel is launching separate IPTV boxes just because Xstream boxes are not restricted for Airtel Fiber and Air fiber users only like Jio STB. If they launch IPTV on Xstream then other users can also access with wifi or other local fiber. There is no sign of any deal.

whats difference between IPTV and current live streaming ???? bot are going to use your internet only ?

This thread is about Airtel IPTV, unless you are confused about Jio STB live streaming via Jiotv+ app.

I don't think Airtel currently provides live streaming of all the channels available on their platform via any app on their STB.

They can map Xstream box STB id to Airtel wifi router for iptv, so iptv in xstream box with other ISP wifi will not work. Otherwise they will invest huge money for replacement xstream boxes with iptv boxes (approx. 30 to 40 lakhs boxes)
