IPTV over multicast or HTTP provided by the provider, wont consume data, just like how making voice calls on 4G or 5G doesnt consume data because it is transferred from the ISP headend. Unless you use 3rd party live streaming like OTTs,it is counted as regular usage.I still support dth because internet is not always reliable, plus iptv will consume data from existing plan
yep, they already have TV broadcast license. BSNL also had IPTV in 2010s I think but like other ventures it failedIPtv can easily succeed with fiber, expecting Airtel will have better quality than rivals with years of experience in DTH and earlier ip tv transmission, but other ISPs depends on 3rd party providers like Jio on Hathway, BSNL on skypro and Excitel on Ulkatv.
the cost of DTH, also includes the satellite transmission spectrum cost. NCF and all that. because of that only we need to pay minimum 150 rupees even to watch free channels.Bandwidth and network congestion plays a major role in IPTV. Just compare yourself 5G connectivity during the launch time with limited users and current condition with all users. Jio 5G was really good and have given high speed when it was available to limited users now it's terribly bad. In some areas it is working like a 4G.
Also if the prices are similar to DTH it won't become a game changer at all.
Now BSNL and Excitel absorbed NCF and some pay channels cost of their iptv in fiber plan.the cost of DTH, also includes the satellite transmission spectrum cost. NCF and all that. because of that only we need to pay minimum 150 rupees even to watch free channels.
but if you transmit the same TV signals using internet protocol, you can eliminate that cost. heck you can just get the stb and watch free channels without DTH also. that is why it is a game changer
BSNL still struggling to provide IPTV in tamilnadu, whenever I ask they say they are facing network issue and working out to resolve. Now BSNL and Excitel absorbed NCF and some pay channels cost of their iptv in fiber plan.
Here in AP, Govt company AP fiber successfully operated iptv with fiber since 7 years. BSNL should start iptv on its own headend, rather than depends on others.BSNL still struggling to provide IPTV in tamilnadu, whenever I ask they say they are facing network issue and working out to resolve.
