Mumbai, May 25: The Mumbai Indians overcame some nervous moments to edge past the Kolkata Knight Riders by 4 wickets with 4 balls to spare and win the eliminator encounter of the IPL4 play-offs. Chasing a less-than-threatening 147/7, Mumbai was given a blazing start by Aiden Blizzard (51 off 30 balls) and Sachin Tendulkar (36 off 28 balls) who put on 81 in just 7.5 overs. Then after Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Kieron Pollard and T Suman departed for low scores, and James Franklin (29 off 25 balls) and Harbhajan Singh (11 off 5 balls) weathered the storm to take their side to victory and through to the next stage where they play the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a place in the finals.

The Mumbai Indians' innings began in blazing fashion with Aiden Blizzard dispatching Brett Lee to the fence off successive balls in the first over, before Sachin Tendulkar hit his first four off Iqbal Abdulla in the second. Then after a quiet third over, Blizzard went after Abdulla, sending him to the boundary twice. But the following over was a real bumper as Tendulkar clobbered Yusuf Pathan for four consecutive fours as the score moved onto 51/0 in 5 overs.

The boundaries just kept on coming with Blizzard pummeling Shakib Al Hasan for two fours before sending Rajat Bhatia into orbit as the MI saw their score soar to 71/0 in 7 overs. But Blizzard wasn't done yet - he smashed a hapless Lee for a four and a six to bring up his 50 off 29 balls, before he was finally caught by the deep point fielder. The Mumhai Indians however, were comfortably placed at 81/1 in 7.5 overs. But in the next over, new batsman Rohit Sharma was run out without facing a ball, a tragedy which brought Ambati Rayudu to the crease.

Tendulkar struck one more four before he was caught behind off Jacques Kallis for 36 off 28 balls as the Mumbai Indians slipped to 92/3 in 10.5 overs. Then no sooner had Rayudu and new batsman James Franklin taken taken Mumbai over 100 in the 13th over, than Kallis had the former batsman caught behind for 12 off 16 balls. But Franklin was focussed on the task at hand, smacking Balaji for a four as the score ticked onto 114/4 in 14 overs. However, the new man the crease Kieron Pollard was soon trapped lbw by Shakib Al Hasan for 3 off 5, as Mumbai slipped to 123/5 in 15.4 overs.

Then to compound Mumbai's woes, Al Hasan removed a shaky T Suman for 2 off 7 balls as Mumbai slid further into trouble at 133/6 in 18 overs. Lee welcomed Harbhajan Singh to the crease with a rising delivery which the batsman top-edged fine for four. With 7 runs required off the final over, Franklin took a single before Harbhajan finished off the match with a six.
