Star may spoil the party for Viacom with package C...
But for example if I have taken Viacom's subscription, I'll be watching the complete IPL on that itself, and if I am taking Hotstar's subscription for other things like Disney content only then I might see these 18 matches on Hotstar, else why will someone just buy Hotstar for these 18 matches when he can have the complete IPL on Viacom.

Maybe someone just goes for this to see how much viewership they can get with these 18 matches but for normal customers, buying a subscription for 18 matches just doesn't adds up.

Hotstar may offer 18 matches as value added for normal subscribers.... Linear TV will not need further investment as Star already has an Infrastructure along with regional channels in place....The Customer who want all the matches and that to on digital platform will not mind taking another OTT subscription.....What Viacom need is other the IPL to engage customers for 10 more months.....

This is the entire of package D, right.?
Package D has many individual territories available. So, there will be a flexibility for the bidders. Like if Times Internet and Star only wanted Americas rights they can bid for that, Supersport for Africa etc.. Each have its own individual bids.
