Than it would become difficult for franchise to build the brand and fans also find difficult to connect with the team as teams would have new players each year
Although I agreed with u

In any case they can retain only 5 of the 20-25 players each time. Who remembers which teams Rohit Sharma or David Warner or Shane Watson or Gautam Gambhir played with earlier but looks like fans connect(ed) to each one of them.

Also, taking your point, they could have 5 Right-to-Match cards for each team instead of 5 retaining. That way a franchise can choose to have the player to build their brand, fans, etc.

Example - If Mumbai Indians wants Bumrah, they can use the Right-to-Match card and get him for his correct price. But with retaining system, they get the player for a lesser price and thats how the same teams keep winning year after year

Its always healthy to have 8 competing teams as against the same 3 or 4.

Will Anil Kumble be the man to take them back into the top four?

Courtney Walsh Joins Kings XI Punjab

Indian Premier League side Kings XI Punjab have brought West Indies great Courtney Walsh on board as a talent scout, pretty much like the long-time association former India coach John Wright has with Mumbai Indians. Former India skipper Anil Kumble has been appointed as the head coach of Kings XI Punjab for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Former India spinner Sunil Joshi and Kumble's longtime national and state teammate will be the assistant coach of the Punjab franchise. South African great Jonty Rhodes is set to be the team's fielding coach and former Australian captain George Bailey will coach the batsmen. Spin legend Anil Kumble has been put in charge of "all cricket-related affairs" of the team and will be making a presentation to the team management regarding his plans on October 19.

Robin uthappa was utter flop in this years vijay hazare trophy tournament. He should thank kerala cricket team management to give chances in all matches even after he was a failure a through the tournament. If he continues to follow failures in Syed Mushtaq Ali t20 there is high chances for him to rmain Unsold. Feelinf really sad thinking about his current scenario. He never received recoiginition when he was in prime form. From this year he is moving to the Flop list ....

Most likely Robin Uthappa will not be retained by KKR.
