Iyer and Pant are surely out of WC. Sky will surely get selected. But he isn't in form. So, from Rahane or Gaikwad, one should be picked to open up the innings with Sharma and Gill should bat at three and Kohli at 4 to strengthen the middle order.

Shaw fitness is not good. I don't think he will be picked in Indian squad ever again. Sarfaraz might be picked after this WTC Final if he clicks in Ranji trophy, but in test format. Samson will be picked only for T20 format. But Hardik won't pick him. Natrajan is finished. He is 30+. In India we don't pick players above 30+(Badrinath and Sky are exceptions).Saini will be picked in squads before being faded away. Harshal Patel is finished as well. DDP is not international level talent. Jaiswal might get chance if Gill-Gaikwad pair fails in ODI. Iyer is finished too. Shankar will play but Iyer won't.

Always performing in the same format should be the criteria.. not like selecting T20 player for ODI matches. Don't know when BCCI learns that...

It’s good for KKR that they backed him after one bad season. He single handedly made KKR qualified for playoffs in the previous season from an impossible position.
To win World Cup, you need some genuine all-rounders (1983 and 2011 are prime examples). Venky Iyer have the potential, needs to be groomed.
