Simple Dhawan retirement is nearing (In international cricket) so DC need one active opener as a future planning in mind .. but definitely they may go for Dhawan in Auction

Dhawan will play atleast 3 years more,.so it would have been wise to retain him in place of Shaw.

Shaw is very inconsistent Batsman.

IMO he's fit to play till 40 but BCCI will select him for team I don't think that'll happen hereafter so he'll be in unofficial retirement that's the reason they didn't retained him

If it's the final call, then it will be a bad decision from kkr management. Getting quality Indian players in auction is going to be difficult, and retaining the maximum Indian players before auction will be the wise call.
