I think because of his IPL performance was very well that's why he selected for England tour
Whether any board select player for test on ipl performance.very bad.when this selection board will change.test player should come from domestic matches like ranji trophy

Stop bashing K L! It's not IPL performance that earned him a place in test team.
It's his earlier test and practice match (against Essex where he scored maximum runs for the team) performance that counted. Don't forget he is in the elite club of most successive 50's in test cricket (less than a year ago). No other Indian batsman in the list.
Also he scored an International century against England in his very first match in this country. In the process, joined the rare club of 2 T20I centuries. 1st T20I (D/N), India tour of Ireland and England at Manchester, Jul 3 2018 | Match Summary | ESPNCricinfo

IMO, there are a bunch of reasons for the loss.
1. Catch drops
2. Except Virat, failure of other 6 batsmen in both the innings.
3. Bowler's failure to clean-up the tails in both innings.
4. 3rd umpire's wrong decision on Ishant in 2nd innings.
5. Hardik's exposing of Ishant (in consecutive 2 overs, Hardik took singles in very first ball), he should have protect Ishant.

My belief is much more stronger now after India's loss to England that Kohli as a player fantastic but as a captain poor. His leadership quality, arrogance, team selection and tactics on field are questionable.

Totally wrong!
He has the best qualities taken from two of the great Indian captains.
Aggression (which is arrogance to you) from Ganguly, tactics from MS. Added to those are his killing instincts (go for a win, whatever the situation may be) makes him the most successful test captain of India and 3rd in test history (win% after at least 35 matches). Also his win-loss ratio is only behind Steve Waugh.

Your strategically POOR captain has won ONLY 21 tests and lost 6.

Virat Kohli's Captaincy Also Contributed to India's Defeat, Says Nasser Hussain
Former England captain Nasser Hussain said India skipper Virat Kohli was phenomenal with the bat in the first Test but questioned his captaincy, saying "he should too take some responsibility" for the 31-run loss.

"Kohli was phenomenal in this game. He deserved to be on the winning side for the way he played with the tail. He single-handedly brought India back into the Test match. I do think he should take some of the responsibility for the loss, though," Hussain told Sky Sports.

Great! You believe the verdict of a hardcore English supporter!
For your knowledge, this is the cheap tactics taken to break India.
