Nope, even that is a very big number. After year 2000, highest number of tests played by India was in 2002 i.e. 16 tests. After that, 2018 is the highest numbers of tests for India (14 tests)

The problem is not with the number of test matches being played internationally. The players aren't playing any first class cricket, where they can practice quality spin bowling, that's the main reason for current woes against even mediocre spinners like Moeen Ali!!

I always wished there was a rule stating the minimum number of Test Matches a Test Playing Nation should play each year. Example, 15 per year.
