Pant has done reasonably good keeping wickets IMO, if that's not the case, it's not possible to be on top of the list even if the bowlers are doing exceptional! Mayank and Vijay should be a good combination. Too many changes would be bad for the side. I think, replacing Rahul with Mayank and Ashwin/Jadeja in place of Umesh should be good enough for the side. This side can win the series if the openers do well and there is a good spin option.
I wonder still some supporting vijay😊😊😊.If vijay and rahul included in next match it is suicide.

Lyon broke India's back in the 1st innings with Rahane's wicket in the very 1st over of the 3rd day. This wicket potentially changed the course of the match, instead of getting a lead, India couldn't even reach Australia's total. And now in the second innings, he broke India's back again by getting Virat's wicket which kind of defined the outcome of the match. He even got Vijay, who looked solid in this innings. We got to accept, Lyon has been exceptional. At the same time, even if India had a spinner, I'm not sure if he could have created the same impact as Lyon!

Talking about Pant, in the 19 deliveries he played today, 5 were mishits. He looked like he would get out any ball, and this was with a reasonably old ball. Imagine what happens if he was facing a brand new ball!

So should we advise them to drop Lyon ??
It's upto us how to play . Accept the fact that our openers are nowhere near to even tailenders of Australia .

Btw atleast Pant is making 20-30 runs , unlike current openers who are beating each other in scoring less single digit runs

I'm not advising anyone anything. Just presenting my views on how his bowling impacted the outcome of this match, if they made any sense.

Yes, Pant is making those 20-30 runs, because his edges and mishits are flying over fielders luckily. Sending him as an opener looking at those runs will not make any difference, in fact it will be suicidal, and he will also make single digit score, again this is just my view.

He was solid today on a 4th innings pitch. I think he will get another chance, there is no replacement anyway for him. Mayank will come in place of Rahul not Vijay!

Same happened in England . So it's surely bad batting than good bowling . Indians are known to be best players against spin.

Runs are runs , doesn't matter how it comes . Still better than current openers. Rahul is playing like gully cricket match

Indians WERE best players against spin, not anymore. Most of these players don't play any domestic cricket in India on spin tracks. They are very busy playing IPL and International cricket. The spin playing ability is long gone from the Indian team, except for couple of players like Murali Vijay and Pujara (They still play domestic cricket!!). So, unless all these guys start playing domestic cricket in a regular fashion, we can forget about tackling spin bowling.

I'm not saying Rahul is playing great. I'm saying Pant isn't fit to be an opener in Test cricket period!! Runs are runs, yeah, but one needs technique to be a test opener, and I don't think Pant has it![/QUOTE]

Among all those, Edgbaston and Cape Town were the gettable ones respectively, rest were very tough.
