So i called up Airtel Fiber CC and asked them if Fiber (OFC) is available in my city, lol they cant even check properly which areas have and which dont and asked me to visit local Airtel Store for futher queries.

I visited the store and they asked me to contact the local engineer/technician and he will let me know.

They said AirFiber is avaialble, to which is said, i am a BSNL FTTH connection and i want to shift to Airtel FTTH itself and not AirFiber.

Does anyone know who i can contact in Airtel hight level team if i have to get Airtel to get its OFC to my area. any email ID/Phone number ?

CC can not check availability of Airtel Fiber on their end.

There are two reliable ways to check the availability.

1. By asking the Airtel sales person or Airtel store people, as they regularly sell connections, they would know. They can even put your exact house location on the map using their mobile app and confirm.

2. You can manually look for Airtel FAT box within 100 mtrs range, it's white color box which is used to provide Airtel Xstream Fiber connections. If it's not present nearby then high chances that Airtel optical fiber is unavailable in your area.

You can also check posters/ads near to your home with sale person mobile number on it as Airtel have high/more Road publicity for their products.

Lots of advt/posters put up on Bus Stops and common areas, but its mentioned as Xstream Fiber only. But in reality where OFC is not available they provide AirFiber.

There are some white color boxes but cant identify which ISP is using it...

Airtel Store asks me to call field technician and get details, upon calling field technician he says ask store as they have the area wise data.

Or you can also call 8130181301. Upon calling you will receive a WhatsApp msg from airtel and after giving details in WhatsApp airtel sales agent of your area will call you. They have the right information that which type of connection is available in your area.

Yes same posters in my city, thats how i got AirFiber installed at my office. After installing they said that OFC also is available, but they dont recommend due to local authorities issue and cable getting cut and all sorts of issues.

Yes, this pattern is seen almost everywhere. Local Cable Operators (LCOs) initially maintain their monopoly and have their own lco mafiya, but when big players like Airtel enter the market, they first have to collaborate with LCOs.
Gradually, they capture the market through better service, pricing, and technology. Airtel fiber has also followed this strategy in my city, first utilizing the local network man power and their ability to connect every homes, and then slowly building its own infrastructure.

In your area, are Airtel and Jio now completely dominant, or are some local cable operators still in business?

In my city, I haven't heard of anyone using Jio Fiber OFC or Airtel Fiber OFC. I came to know about airtel OFC presence after speaking to the technician and store people.

As of now we have BSN FTTH present everywhere which is mostly underground i feel. And 2-3 local ISP who use over head cable. Airtel also i guess uses over head cabling. Jio Fiber OFC is not available in my city.

Apart from this Jio Air Fiber and Airtel Air Fiber is available, while i feel local ISP are dominant next being BSNL FTTH.

AirFiber is a new technology and is growing

Update 1:

Okay one sales guy called me. He said as of now OFC is not available in my home location, however it can be made available in 2-3 months (he is not sure)

Also i asked him if AirFiber can be migrated to OFC, he said its possible. There wont be charges he said, however i want to confirm from more sources.

He asked me to get in touch with previous Sales Guy who booked my connection for my Office.

Here is what i will do, i will keep a watch on Airtel AirFiber performance for 4 months and after that i will decide if its needed to migrate to OFC or not.

As for my home, i have no option but to wait, as i do not know if it will expand or not as its an higher level decision.
