The Central government is seemingly working on the successor of the Aadhaar Card. According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s (MeitY) proposed plan that was assessed by The Indian Express, the government is working on a new model of “Federated Digital Identities" to link multiple digital IDs such as driving licence, passport numbers, PAN, and so on- all into one. This new digital ID will seemingly be present in the form of a unique ID, similar to the Aadhaar card number. The proposed plan suggests the umbrella digital identity will “empower" a citizen by “putting her in control of these identities and providing her with the option of choosing which one to use for what purpose," the report notes.

Earlier it said that aadhar will be the single identify. Now another id came into pic.
Aadhar is single identity card from which your all card are link from Bank Account, PAN, Voter ID, State Government schemes, etc.
While this is integrated version to that seems this would be the digital ID no physical card would be issued just a single number for all identities.
BTW we already have DigiLocker for all documents at one place, this might be digital card form of that, which will already have all documents in one.

Reminds me of this cartoon strip.

What is the use another ID since adhar can also be used for this purpose.

Is not it the wasting of Govt money in name of another digital ID?

they already have adhar id now linked indirectly to most of the documents . they could improvise or optimize the present system used .

Everyone is trying to solve problem but in reality there is no problem. Maybe article is not clear enough because as seen trend from last 7-8 years govt is making Aadhar link to each and everything. Finger crossed 🤞 hope we will soon 🍀 have to just provide Aadhar Card to extract each of our documents including marksheet to PAN card to Bank Statement to credit score.
