Google Drive for Mac and PC will now allow users to choose specific subfolders to sync locally. In addition, Google Drive for Android has also received an update which includes a slight tweak to the upload interface.
Google Drive product manager Aakash Sahney wrote in a blog post , “Drive can store terabytes (upon terabytes) but there’s a good chance your computer’s hard drive will run out of space if you sync everything. Fortunately, you can now select which folders or subfolders you want to sync — and deselect the ones you don’t.”
When a user deselects a folder, it will be removed from the computer, but still kept in Drive. Google Drive will also show the size of each folder, so one will know how much space to free up, time to time. After the files have been synced, Drive will allow users to move and delete items directly from the computer. Sahney added, “but doing that with shared files can cause others to lose access. Now, Drive warns you when this might happen.”
Recently, Google had also updated Drive for iOS to the new 4.4 version which now supports 3D Touch functionality, the feature introduced by Apple in its new smartphones which offers a pressure sensitive display. With this feature, the Google Drive app will bring up two pop ups, one for which is to upload photos and the second, to search the content on the Drive.
