Like Aadhaar, GST idea was also introduced by Congress but they did not have majority in Parliament so they could not clear the bill.

Like Congress, NDA also knows that current tax structure is too much complicated for business, trucks stands on every state borders for weeks just to get clearance so it takes long time to reach destinations.

On top of that as a business company you hv to deal with different taxes with 29 states and 7 UTs for Pan india consumer reach instead of one authority in GST.

So as a company Ceo you will choose China or somewhere else where there is less complicated tax structure to set up a plant so that raw materials can reach to plant from ports and products can reach to port as fast as possible instead of standing at state borders for clearance.

These are some benifits as far as I understand.

They are saying One India One Tax...

For example: Before GST if we buy a car in **** state it used to cost 9l and in another state same car costs 12l but now every where it will be same or it will be still different

The government told companies on Friday they must print the revised maximum retail price of goods they manufacture or face punishment, including a year in prison and a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh.

This is the latest effort by the government to ensure compliance by manufacturers and retailers under the new Goods and Services Tax (GST) amid complaints from consumers of overcharging and arbitrary tax rates.

“We have told companies to reprint revised rates on unsold goods. Stickers of new MRP should be pasted so that consumers are aware of the change in rates after GST,” PTI quoted consumer affairs minister, Ram Vilas Paswan as saying.

After GST, sell goods at revised MRP or go to jail: Govt tells manufacturers
