I had recharged my Airtel Prepaid with the 1999 plan, and then later with the 361 data pack (50 GB). The 1999 plan is about to expire next week. If I recharge again with 1999 before the current pack expires, will the 361 data pack continue to be active?

No, it will expire with the previous 1999 plan in my experience.
