The Stamford Bridge club had wanted the 25-year-old Spain striker to complete a £32m move prior to the World Cup.

That deadline was not met but a deal has now finally been completed.

The Premier League club had already agreed to meet that fee, and the player himself told Atletico of his desire to move, but agreement proved elusive throughout June.

Liverpool Football Club have today completed the transfer of Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Reds agreed a deal in principle for the versatile midfielder last month, and the necessary documentation has now been finalised.

Can becomes Liverpool's third signing of the summer, following the capture of Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana from Southampton.

Upon sealing the switch to Anfield, the 20-year-old said: "I am proud to be a part of the family and I am looking forward to playing here. I will give it my best.

"LFC is a great club and the fans are amongst the best in the world. I am looking forward to the first game and can't wait to step on the pitch for the first time at Anfield."

Can made 29 Bundesliga appearances last season, scoring three goals for Leverkusen, in addition to seven Champions League run-outs.

Sanchez, 25, joins Arsenal from Barcelona where he made a total of 88 appearances, scoring 39 goals during his three seasons with the Catalan side.
With Barcelona, Sanchez won both La Liga (2012/13) and the Copa del Rey (2012), as well as the Spanish Super Cup on two occasions (2011, 2013), the UEFA Super Cup (2011) and the FIFA Club World Cup (2011).
Regarded as one of the world’s finest talents, Sanchez has just returned from the World Cup in Brazil, where he played an integral role in Chile qualifying from their group (which included the Netherlands, Spain and Australia) and reaching the round of 16. During the tournament, Sanchez scored two goals from his four appearances.
Sanchez travelled to London Colney on Thursday to complete his medical and will join up with his new team-mates at the end of July, after spending some time on holiday following the World Cup.
It is expected that Sanchez will make his first Arsenal appearance at the Emirates Cup, which takes place at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3.

Liverpool have reached an agreement with Barcelona to sell striker Luis Suarez.
The deal, understood to be worth £75million, has been confirmed by both clubs in joint statements released today.
The Uruguayan will be travelling to Barcelona next week for a medical, to sign his five-year contract and to be officially presented to the media and fans as an FC Barcelona player.
Luis Suárez is one of the most productive strikers in European football. Since turning professional (2005/06) he has always scored at least ten league goals a season, whether at Groningen, Ajax or Liverpool. The 27 year old is heading for the Camp Nou as holder of the Golden Boot after hitting 31 goals for Liverpool last term, which means he has topped the scoring charts in both Holland and England.
Suarez, currently in his native Uruguay following his fourth-month ban for his World Cup biting shame, will undergo medical next week.

Liverpool have finally confirmed the signing of Lazar Markovic from Benfica.

The Portuguese club announced they had sold their 50% share in the player to the Reds for £9.91million earlier today.

A complex third party agreement had delayed the Reds - although it has now been confirmed the other half of Markovic's ownership has been
bought out.

The deal for Markovic is quoted as "long-term" by the Reds, with the player delighted to be at Anfield. Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers insists Markovic is a player of proven European quality.

The total outlay for the player is just short of £20million.

Arsenal have signed the full-back Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle. The 28-year-old, who was part of the France World Cup squad who reached the World Cup quarter-finals, will present a ready-made replacement for Bacary Sagna, who has left Arsenal to join Manchester City on a free transfer.

A post on Arsenal’s official Twitter feed read: “It’s official - Mathieu Debuchy has signed for Arsenal!”

Debuchy, who has cost around £12m, becomes Arsenal’s second signing of the summer, following the arrival of Alexis Sánchez from Barcelona.

Debuchy said: “I’m very proud to be joining a great club like Arsenal and to wear its colours. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the whole world. I’m looking forward to working with Arsène Wenger and to helping the team build on last season’s FA Cup success. Playing again in the Champions League is a big excitement for me and I will do my best to help Arsenal compete for trophies.”

Wenger said: “We are delighted to welcome Mathieu Debuchy to Arsenal. He has shown he can perform at the highest level with his club sides and also for France. He is a quality defender who has good Premier League experience and I’m confident he will fit in very well with us.”

Debuchy made 46 appearances in his 18 months on Tyneside after signing from Lille, where he won the league and French Cup double in 2010-11. He was named in the Ligue 1 team of the season the following year, having also won the first of his 25 France caps in October 2011 against Albania.

Arsenal, MP & Silva renew the club’s media rights and content partnership

MUMBAI: International sports media company MP & Silva (MPS) and Arsenal Broadband Limited (ABL), the digital arm of Barclays Premier League club Arsenal FC, have agreed an extension to their existing six-year deal, which will now run through until 2018/19.

Under the new deal, MP & Silva will continue to distribute the club’s International Programming Block (The Arsenal Media Channel) and remain the club’s strategic media advisor.

The new deal follows on from the announcement earlier this year that in 2013/14 season, MP and Silva delivered a record distribution of the Arsenal Media Channel to 130 territories in 5 continents, covering a potential audience reach of 392 million households in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Mena, Latin America and North America.

The Arsenal Media Channel is the club’s weekly three-hour International Programming block, produced in High Definition, and which consists of delayed match coverage from all domestic competitions, news, interviews and behind-the-scenes club life stories. MP & Silva will continue to distribute this content worldwide, across all platforms, excluding mobile. The extension cements an extremely strong relationship between the two parties that continues to deliver the broadest possible reach for Arsenal content to its fans across the globe.

Under the original deal, MP and Silva had helped Arsenal to establish an in-house production unit, which now creates weekly content for the International Programming Block and across all of Arsenal’s platforms, including social media. In an ever-changing media market, this has enabled Arsenal to create both platform specific and localised content for different markets, which is integral to the club’s domestic and international development strategies.

Arsenal chief commercial officer Tom Fox said, “We are extremely pleased to be renewing our long term strategic media partnership with MP and Silva two years early and for an additional four-year term. This partnership has already enabled us to dramatically improve the production values and global distribution of our club content to satisfy the demand of our tens of millions of fans worldwide.

We are selective about who we partner with at Arsenal and we are proud of our association with one of the leading sports media companies in the world. We look forward to an exciting future together.” MP and Silva founding partner Riccardo Silva commented, “We’re delighted to continue to work with Arsenal to provide original content, which we will jointly create to serve the fragmented way that the clubs 30 million supporters around the world experience their media.

Sharing the knowledge and skills in our two organisations is a great combination, as we look to move from the traditional television-centric approach, towards a broader multi-platform experience.”
