₹5900/year is a fair price to ask for Disney + Marvel + Fox + HBO + Star Sports + Star India + National Geographic International.
But bro.. we are already getting all of this in Hotstar, for ₹999. The only thing remaining is the new Disney Plus shows & films. So, are we supposed to pay ₹5000 extra just for that?
  • Marvel + Fox + HBO + Star Sports + Star India + Nat Geo = ₹999
  • Marvel + Fox + HBO + Star Sports + Star India + Nat Geo + Disney Plus = ₹5,900 ?
just doesn't make sense...

They were offering at way cheap price before. Slowly they will increase. If Netflix can ask ₹500 with 90% crap content. Star can do to.

IMO Disney+ should come as a standalone app (to avoid crappy UI and streaming standards of hotstar) and should have hotstar premium subscription included.

That will unfortunately increase the cost exponentially for a startup..
I Don't See Hotstar As A Startup. If I Assume Hotstar As A Startup, Then I Should Also Think The Same For Prime Or The Newly Born Disney+ Which Is Offering 4K UHD HDR And Dolby Atmos. Hotstar Is More Than 4 Years Old Now. It Should Get Mature As It Grows.

Hotstar is a domestic born app. Initially meant to stream Star TV contents. In that terms its UI is best (Compared to Zee5, Sony Liv, Voot etc) But when it comes to global streaming giants like Netflix the UI lacks. Hotstar serves everything now-Live streaming, Television programs, Regional and International contents, movies, news, sports, originals. They had tie up with the largest distributors - HBO, Hooq and Now Disney plus.
So Hotstar requires a UI upgradation. It is better to have two different apps, if they bear all this contents. Otherwise they should drop contents from other studios.

Absolutely. I Dont Want To See Disney+ In Hotstar. Let Them Be Standalone Or Create A Subdomain For Disney+ like disneyplus.hotstar.com If You Still Want Them In Hostar Family. In The Subdomain, Let Disney+ Be Unique With Its Original UI And Features.

Unfortunately Star India still treats it as a startup. Someone I know works there with the tech team.

They have huge cash stash compared to Hotstar.

The mentality of Star India should change.
Disney US has to be blind not to see how hard Star is trying to kill off Disney programming. Disney International HD the only channel with full Disney original programming in India is not part of any bouquet. At first they tried to kill off by putting animated content on live action channel which didn't work against it. They have stop airing animated content. Now they are airing decade old reruns. Than also of random episodes. The channels has no advertisement of any brand. Nor is channel being promoted on any of Star's channels.

While Fox was the parent, the Murdoch family itself has a special attention over Star. But things are not going well after Disney become the owner. They have many business globally. Many high profile exits are happening in Star and their is clash with former Disney India management.
