Sony-owned anime content platform, Crunchyroll, is planning to invest in India as part of its global expansion plans. The company will invest in content, localisation, platform development, and talent recruitment within the country. Currently, India is the world's second-largest anime market after China, with an estimated 180 million anime fans and expected to contribute 60% of global anime growth, according to Crunchyroll's President Rahul Purini.

Partnering with Tiger Shroff, who has a wide mass appeal, will further elevate and evangelize the Crunchyroll anime brand, reaching fans across the region – from metropolitan cities to smaller villages and in-between, the company said in a statement. The actor’s strong affinity towards anime and his love for fitness and action make him the perfect choice considering the platform’s wide assortment of action-packed anime titles, it added.

In addition to Tiger shroff Crunchyroll India announced its partnership with actress Rashmika Mandanna to celebrate her love of anime across India.

Anime streaming platform Crunchyroll will add a new batch of series to its available AVOD (advertising-based video on demand) catalog starting 1 August in India. The newly added shows like Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family, Vinland Saga, Bluelock, Lycoris Recoil, My Dress-Up Darling, and more will now be free-to-watch with ads on the platform.

Crunchyroll is moving towards AVOD advertised video on demand free anime shows would be available only for those users who have signed up on Crunchyroll (India) . the library will have 1000 hours of free anime series.

One of Crunchyroll’s first employees, McCollum’s 15 years of service witnessed the company’s evolution from humble origins to the world’s largest anime streaming service including thousands of anime titles, countless product and consumer releases, and a lifetime of partnerships.
