The first participant in the trial will receive the experimental vaccine on Monday, the official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the trial has not been publicly announced yet.

Experts see progress as Oxford's Covid vaccine appears protective in small monkey study

The scientists at Oxford University's Jenner Institute, who are developing a vaccine for the novel coronavirus have passed an important hurdle. First results of a recent animal trial of the promising coronavirus vaccine from Oxford University were posted on Wednesday.

The pre-print results showed that the "ChAdOx1 nCoV-19" vaccine has been effective in preventing damage to the lungs without any signs of immune-enhanced diseases. Six monkeys were infected with a high dose of SARS-CoV-2, the virus which causes the Covid-19. As on May 13, more than 1000 volunteers have already participated in human clinical trails of this vaccine.

we have to wait more for vaccine so that we can prevent spreading

Good news is we might be getting it soon (as in a year or two) from Oxford. They have been already working on MERS vaccine which saved them lots of time in lab testing.

At this time our only hope is to isolate ourselves to end the outbreak like we did to SARS in 2003.

A government laboratory in Assam has successfully isolated the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) virus becoming the fourth such facility in the country to achieve the feat.
Indian Council of Medical Research’s (ICMR) Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) located in Lahowal in Dibrugarh district follows National Institute of Virology, Pune, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad and Bharat Biotech , Hyderabad to be able to isolate the virus.
