I heard that MiUi 8 update file is approx 1.2 GB, but it showing only 300MB..so I'm confused.

miui updates are cumulative. So if you hv previous updates installed then it will only download the required part which is necessary to update your phone to latest miui.

If you want a fresh start from scratch then you can download full miui fastboot Rom whose size will be big

Miui version varies from device to device. So don't say all mi devices.

For example I am running miui 8.0.7.0 stable
