BJP demands separate ministry for senior citizens

.Ludhiana, July 3 (PTI) Senior Citizens Cell of the BJP today demanded a separate ministry for the senior citizens.

In a resolution passed in the first ever state level function of the BJP Cell held here today, the house demanded that this ministry should be on the pattern of Women and Child development, SC/ST department, Sports and Youth Welfare.

Balramji Dass Tondon, a former minister and national president of the Senior Citizens Cell of the BJP while addressing the session said that according to latest census there were about 20 crore senior citizens in the country.

He pleaded for social security, security, healthcare for all senior citizens and emphasised for special concession in Income Tax and higher interest returns in the bank deposits.
