Actually, see my family members used JioPhone before shifting to smartphone and when I choose to buy Lava for them, they literally loved it because it was easy to navigate, good sound output, quick response, No ads, no bloatware and yes they still get timely security updates.
Last update they released was in July for June and in April for April.
And, for security updates we can trust on Lava. You can check on their social media pages they post about update about.
I purchased the 6GB varient in August at 9K which now available at 8K, which is definitely a good deal.

In entry level and budget segment Samsung is doing poor job specially with cameras, not giving charger in box and on that poor service centre experience.
I'll not suggest Moto to anyone from now on because of network issues it has. Unlimited 5G won't work at all in it. It keep switching from 5G to 4G each second you start surfing internet.
Every other phone works superb in my house on 5G but not the Moto ones.

Contacted Jio and Airtel Customer Care several times no solution at all.

don't go for these cheaply designed smartphone with bloatware. The elderly would be in learning phase how will they handle so many bloatware.
Also, Lava provide service at home option which make easy for you to get the phone fixed if anything happens in future because, being elderly how they'll travel service centers and it will become your headache.
In last I've clicked pictures from Blaze 5G front and rear camera they turned out to be really good even in low light.
