M10s also excellent phone, which i bought 1 month back..
Mostly M30 and M10s are same, where M10s has Andriod Pie.
If you are going for M30 , go for 4GB RAM, else u can go for M10s itself

3GB RAM should be more than enough for them. No need to spend extra money for 4GB Variants. They are not going to play games on the phones. So save those extra money.
Go for Samsung M10s (3GB, 32GB), which is available at ₹7,999 (with offers you can get it in even lower).
Also, Samsung's One UI will be easy for them to use. It is not as sophisticated as MIUI (AdUI).

M30 is good.. but it is focused more on the heavy users.

Wouldn't MI phones be more useful? These have IR blasters. If they can't find remote. They can use phones as remotes.

Meanwhile his parents might get into PUBG. You can never know. Nowadays everybody plays PUBG. 1k extra for future proof isn't bad.
