England cricket rights are with Star upto 2019, so India's tour of England will be broadcast on Star Sports.
We used to have the English cricket board rights which have lapsed, we used to have the Cricket Australia rights, they have also lapsed
Our strategy was very high risk and we were very concerned: Uday Shankar, Star India

As per interview given by Uday Shankar ECB rights are already ended but in 2012 they signed deal for 7 years which ends upto 2019, So confusing:cf:

ESPN breaks Sony - No way - until 5 years (they have 5 year deal).
And Sony bags Cricket Australia broadcast rights for Indian market
Earlier ESPN left Star (or Star left ESPN) - not sure why that split for? but that decision made big setback to the ESPN Indian fans.
Now we highly welcomed ESPN under Sony. But I am sure somehow STAR wants the Australian Cricket back in their platform.

At that time Star and ESPN were from rival group but now they hav become brothers after Disney's acquisition of 21st Fox

Colors, Rishtey, Cineplex, MTV, MTV Beats will all start showing cricket.
Already we have NIDHAS foraying into Cineplex HD

MTV and VH1 have already shown sports events and Cineplex will be joining them shortly.Infact MTV has been making steady advances into sports broadcasting.

Nidahas Trophy, Winter Olympics and Carabao Cup Final rights are the major events they have.Carabao Cup rights were interestingly not bagged by any broadcaster this season but Viacom18 picked up the final rights.

I feel Viacom18 might bid this time :win:
