Star India and SPN have written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) making their displeasure known. The main reason is that the BCCI wants the media rights winner to pay the same amount for matches involving two visiting teams as well in case of international series like a World T20 or 50-over World Cup.

BCCI already clarified that there is no tri series planned and this is just the ploy of BCCI office bearers to derail the whole process and thats why their proxies are now working to ensure that either there is no auction at all or rights are sold on lower price.

Then why BCCI wants the media rights winner to pay the same amount for matches involving two visiting teams in bid documents ? If no tri series then there is no question of 2 visiting teams at a time

The same article also tells

The average viewership on Indian matches is significantly higher than on non-India matches (as surveyed during the Asia Cup in 2016). Even an India match with a non-Test playing nation generates more viewership than two major Test nations playing each other.

That's a bad news for Sony considering they are acquiring lots of other board broadcast right

The answer is simple. BCCI office bearers are not happy with e auction and working style of COA. That's why they met in Delhi to chalk out the strategy. Post this meeting only, potential bidders have raised questions. BCCI officials already clarified that there is no tri series planned in next 5 years.

Review rights fees, cry broadcasters; No way, says BCCI

Ok so internal politics. But if no tri series then why broadcasters are complaining ? They already new that no tri series will be held just like you said
