Stats highlights from the second day's action in Hyderabad:

1168 runs scored by Kohli in 15 innings in 2016-17 season is the most by a player in a home season. He went past the record of Virender Sehwag who scored 1105 in 2004-05 season.

9 Kohli became the ninth batsman to convert five successive hundreds to scores of 150 or more. Interestingly, he went past 150 only once in his first 11 hundreds but his last five hundreds read - 200, 211, 167, 235 and 204. Sehwag has had most such successive scores - 11, while Don Bradman is the only one to achieve the feat on two separate instances.

6 Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane became the sixth Indian pair to put together three or more double century partnerships in Tests. They have put together 1983 runs at 63.96 per stand which is the third-most among Indian pairs with at least 1500 runs after 67.82 by Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar and 67.47 by Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara.

204 by Kohli is the second highest individual score for India against Bangladesh after the unbeaten 248 by Sachin Tendulkar in Dhaka in 2004. The only other Indian captain to score a hundred against Bangladesh is Rahul Dravid who scored 129 in Dhaka in 2007.

1 Kohli became the first player to score double hundreds in four successive series. He scored 200 against West Indies, 211 against New Zealand and 235 against England before this knock. Don Bradman in 1930-32 and Rahul Dravid in 2003-04 are the only other players to do so in three consecutive series. Kohli is also the third player to score three double hundreds in a season after Don Bradman in 1930 and Rahul Dravid in 2003-04 season.

4 Double hundreds by Kohli as captain in 23 Tests, the joint second-most alongside Don Bradman, Graeme Smith and Michael Clarke. Brian Lara is the only one to score more while leading the side - five. All other Indian captains have together managed four double centuries among them in 485 Tests.

3 Successive scores of 600 or more for India in as many Tests - the first team to achieve the feat. They have managed to do so in three consecutive innings as well - 631 and 759 for seven against England in Mumbai and Chennai respectively.

1 Saha became the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a century at home as well as outside Asia. He scored 104 against West Indies in Gros Islet last year and an unbeaten 106 today. He is fifth Indian wicketkeeper to score two or more hundreds along with MS Dhoni (6), Farookh Engineer, Budhi Kunderan and Syed Kirmani, all with two each.

7 This was the seventh instance overall and first for Bangladesh of five or more bowlers conceding over 100 runs in the same innings. The most is six by Zimbabwe against Sri Lanka in Bulawayo in 2004 . The previous most by Bangladesh was four bowlers each on five separate instances.

687 for 6 declared is the highest total for India against Bangladesh in Tests. They went past 610 for 3 declared in Dhaka in 2007. It is also the second highest by any team against Bangladesh after 730 for 6 declared by Sri Lanka in Mirpur in 2014. It is the fifth highest total for India with their last three innings among the top 15 totals.

0 Byes conceded by Bangladesh in India's total of 687 - the third highest total without giving away a single bye. The two higher totals are 726 by India against Sri Lanka in Mumbai in 2009 and 713 by Sri Lanka against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo in 2004

Kumble advocates Joshi for Bangladesh spin job

Former India left-arm spinner Sunil Joshi has been approached by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to take up the role of their spin consultant to help groom the likes of young spinners Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam and the next pool of slow bowlers.

In fact, Joshi is currently in Hyderabad to have elaborate discussions with BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon and Chief of Cricket Operations Akram Khan. It is still not known whether it will be a short term assignment or a long-term deal as Bangladesh are supposed to play a number of Test matches including a series in Sri Lanka.
