Stats from the first day's play in Hyderabad:

16 years & 92 days Time taken by Bangladesh to play their maiden Test in India since their debut. Bangladesh have lost their inaugural Test match in eight of the nine host nations they played prior to today with the only draw coming in St Lucia in 2004.

4 Karun Nair became the fourth player to miss the subsequent Test after scoring a triple century after Andy Sandham, Len Hutton and Inzamam-ul-Haq. The other three before him missed out because of injury reasons and Sandham never played another Test.

1605 Runs scored by Pujara in this season in 13 first-class matches - the most by any Indian in a season. The previous most was 1604 runs by Chandu Borde in 1964-65 while Pujara sits again at the third place with 1585 runs in 2012-13.

5 Hundred partnerships between Vijay and Pujara this home season. Only one pair has had more century stands in a season - seven by Matthew Hayden and Ricky Ponting in 2005-06 season. The previous most in an Indian season was four by Vijay Hazare and Rusi Modi in 1948-49.

9 Hundreds for Vijay while opening the batting. Among Indian openers, only Sunil Gavaskar (33) and Virender Sehwag (22) has scored more while Gautam Gambhir also has nine. 108 by him today is the lowest among his nine Test hundreds.

3 Kohli became the third Indian player to score 1000 runs in a home season after Gavaskar (1027 in 1978-79) and Sehwag (1105 in 2004-05). He currently has 1075 runs from 15 innings this season so far and it is the most by a captain in a home season eclipsing Graham Gooch's 1058 runs in 1990.

9 Hundreds scored by Kohli in just 36 innings while leading the side - the joint second most for any Indian skipper. He is on level with Mohammad Azharuddin who has nine hundreds from 68 innings at the helm. Only Gavaskar (11 in 74 innings) has more while captaining India.
