Ajmal: Will play World Cup if required
Shortly after he was allowed to resume
bowling in international cricket, Saeed
Ajmal has expressed his desire to
represent Pakistan in the World Cup.
Ajmal, whose reworked action was found
legal by the the ICC on Saturday, is not
part of Pakistan's World Cup squad but
the offspinner said he will love to be
around for the side if required.
"If my country needs me, then I will play
in the World Cup. If I am not required, I
will watch the matches on television and
wish the team all the best and hope they
can lift the trophy," Ajmal told
PakPassion. "As a cricketer, I just want to
play cricket, to entertain and do my best
for whichever team I am playing for."
Ajmal was leading the ICC bowler's
rankings when he was reported for a
suspect action during the first Test
against Sri Lanka in Galle in August last
year, after which he failed the initial
bowling test performed at the National
Cricket Centre in Brisbane. Speaking about
his remodelled action, Ajmal believed he
was confident of coming out clean his
time around.
