Sunil Narine may pull out of the World Cup: Reports

Ace West Indian spinner, Sunil Narine
may out of the upcoming ICC Cricket
World Cup 2015 according to
Dinanath Ramnarine, former West
Indies Players Association (WIPA)
President. Ramnarine, a former
player, hinted that Narine's decision
had to do with continuous work on
his bowling action that saw him miss
West Indies' tours of India and South
Africa.

Narine, 26, was reported for a
suspect action while playing for the
IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders during
the Champions League T20 (CLT20) in
September 2014 and was later
suspended from participation in BCCI
organized tournaments. Despite
having not played international
cricket since getting reported, Narine
was included in the 15-man squad
for the World Cup by the Clive Lloyd-
led selection committee.

Narine, when last contacted,
mentioned that he was waiting for an
official report on the remedial work
on his bowling action. The offie,
playing for Trinidad and Tobago,
picked up six wickets for nine runs in
a game against Guyana Jaguars on
Sunday. Ramnarine had earlier
tweeted about the exclusion of
Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo
from the squad, two days before the
official squad was announced.

WC warm-ups to serve as fitness test for Rohit

For Rohit Sharma, the ongoing tri-
series in Australia is as good as over.

The Indian opener, who hit 138 in
India's tri-series opener against
Australia at the Melbourne Cricket
Ground, is not going to be risked into
playing the final round-robin match
against England on Friday as he is
yet to fully recover from the
hamstring injury he suffered in that
game on January 16. Rohit's fitness
will in fact be tested in the World
Cup practice matches against
Australia and Afghanistan next
month.

Super Over in World Cup final in case of tie

The International Cricket Council
(ICC) has announced changes to the
playing conditions in the 2015 Cricket
World Cup in their first meeting of
the year at the ICC headquarters in
Dubai on Thursday. The most
important development that came out
of the meeting is that there will be a
Super Over in case of a tie in the
final. The previous scenario was that
the trophy would be shared in case
of a tie.

The ICC also approved a change in
the Code of Conduct in offences
relating to slow over-rates. The
change states that captains do not
carry any prior minor over-rate
offence 'strikes' or over-rate
suspensions from other series into an
ICC event. This approval means all
captains will enter the ICC Cricket
World Cup 2015 with no over-rate
strikes against their names, and they
will only be suspended from playing
in a World Cup match if over-rate
offences are committed during the
event.

The ICC also gave the schedule for all
the major events from 2015 to 2019.

India will be hosting the 2016 T20
WC from March 11 to April 03 while
the Champions Trophy will once
again be held in England from June
01 to June 19, 2017. India will be
hosting the T20 WC for the first time.

England will also be the venue for
the 2019 World Cup and it will be
held from May 31 to July 15.

Arshad Ayub appointed India manager for World Cup
prv_7fdc1_1422516244.jpg

The BCCI has appointed Arshad Ayub
as manager of the Indian cricket
team for the 2015 World Cup. The
move comes as a surprise since the
former India offspinner had retured
to India following the four-Test series
in Australia last month.

According to a report in Mumbai
Mirror , the decision was finalised by
BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel on
Tuesday. Ayub is expected to join the
squad on February 7, a day before
India's first practice match, against
Australia.
