Amazon Prime Video launched in India

RE: Amazon Prime Video likely to launch in India tomorrow

Amazon Prime Video Vs Hotstar Vs Netflix – Which Video Streaming Service is the Best for you?

With 4G services getting penetration in India the Video on Demand (VoD) platforms in the country are getting attention as the demand for on-the-go entertainment has been increased. From the past couple of months, we have seen many Video on Demand platforms launched in the country. You might be hearing about an app named Hotstar in Television advertisements as well as on other advertising platforms such as YouTube.

Even before the Netflix was launched earlier this year in India, there were apps such as Hotstar in India that offers live video streaming as well as movies on demand on various platforms such as Windows, Browser, and Android. But the growth of “video on demand” platforms took a serious jump when 4G penetration started this year in India. Some would call it a Jio Effect that Airtel, Vodafone, and even Idea Cellular slashed the 4G data packs rates to compete with Jio’s Welcome Offer .

Well, that’s enough about 4G penetration scenario in the country, which is responsible for the rise of video platforms such as Hotstar, JioMovies, YuppTV and Netflix in the country. You might have heard today that Amazon has finally launched their VoD platform that goes by name Prime Video in India as well as 200 plus other countries. Interestingly, there are now more than dozen of Video on Demand services available including Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Hotstar,
YuppTV , HOOQ, etc. But looking at pricing and library, we have made a comparison between the three of them.

Amazon Prime Video Vs Hotstar Vs Netflix that are by far the best in what they offer & the following table can help you find the most important factors that matter to you as a subscriber.

For someone who owns a large TV with 4K content support, it is clear that Hotstar is something they might want to skip because of no 4K content. There are several new shows that are coming on Amazon Prime Videos on the same lines of Netflix and these two should be your choice if playback quality is your priority.

After this comparison, we are sure you might move towards Amazon Prime because of its dirt cheap at less than Rs 50 a month while it comes along with the super fast package delivery feature for the subscription period that’s worth a lot more. In fact, the prime services are down by 90% when compared with the US Pricing and it’s something we would recommend you to others unless you are just looking for the Indian Specific content like the TV Shows then Hotstar should be your second choice. In fact, we had posted a poll on our Twitter Account @PhoneRadarBlog & have seen that 50% of our readers have opted for the Hotstar service over others & this can give us a hint that the Netflix services are clearly overpriced when compared to the competition.

Brief comparison of Netflix, hotstar & amazon prime video

.

Amazon Prime Video likely to launch in India tomorrow

In the comparison above, most important feature is missing that is chromecast support. Amazon prime doesn't support it yet where as netflix and hotstar does. That's a deal breaker for many people.

It's a basic feature,
Amazon will also add it soon.

Let them get some viewers first

They should have added it in the first release. Read the reviews on Play Store for the app.
