So finally I managed to get details on activating the "service validity packs" using main balance. However, Vodafone is playing dirty,
For Rs 94 / 95 pack, it gives you back entire Rs 94 /95 talktime, but if pack was activated from main balance, then this Rs 94 is kept aside as "servivce validity balance". It gets carried forward if you keep on doing a minimum service validity pack activation. But you cannot use the same Rs 94 again to activate, since it is not a part of Main Balance now.

Sad move.

I have around Rs 2000+ in main balance. This is because earlier there was a mandate to recharge Rs 200 every 6 months, so it is accumulated now. And if I port, I lose all the balance. So, stuck now.

Too bad , these people should at least spare people like you who have that much balance in sim

Which operator ? Never heard that rule

Bro, I am talking about "Lifetime Validity" introduction. When the operators introduced Lifetime Validity, it was required to recharge minimum Rs 200 every 6 months.

This was later trashed by TRAI, and the rule was Rs 20 auto deduction if no chargeable activity done in 90 days.

But due to the earlier rule, I had recharged every 6 months, and so I have balance in my prepaid account. Here is the old TRAI rule link (Year 2008)

By using exiting balance to activate a pack for Service Validity, the deducted balance is re-credited back as "Talktime Balance" but is not reflected in the "Main Balance", i.e. at the end of 28 days, we cannot use the same balance again to activate the same pack.

However, if you do a recharge, i.e. pay money, then the talktime gets added to "Main Balance". Quite but nasty move by Vodafone.

Anyone has a way to get around this?

Why airtel ask us to recharge on the same day of expiry? we will loose one day of unlimited pack, they will not keep that recharge in queue like jio.
Why trai is not acting on this?

Yes exactly we are getting only 27 days validity instead of 28 days.. another looting option. We should get at least 2 days to recharge after 28 days.
