I had one Jio SIM which I didn't recharge after a while and then got constant sms and calls asking to recharge as soon as possible to avail outgoing services. Then O/G was stopped, some days later Incoming was stopped and then soon the number was assigned to someone else. It is the same case like all other operators (except BSNL. BSNL SIMs, as per my experience take a very long time to be fully disconnected when not recharged/ not used).

My brother's Jio sim recharge validity ended in August. It is still active and working fine

Bro, honestly never heard of Jio number getting assigned to other due to non-recharge this sooner. They keep number idle even after years if you don't recharge (in my and many others case). Basically they want to increase customer base so assign new numbers.
But mine did happen after around a year. (I suppose you did not misinterpret "after a while" as few weeks or days). In fact this is slightly offtopic but the number was reassigned but my mail ID was still attached so I made several complaints to Jio care for removal as I was constantly getting recharge alert/updates addressed to my mail ID but in the name of the new customer. (I probably can even provide screenshots of my numerous mails to Jio care and their response where they acknowledged the issue and after 3 or 4 complaints resolved it. Also, I could check the new owner's name in my "My Jio" app accounts dashboard till I removed that account and kept only my current Jio mobile.)

Actually I too was surprised with the move since like you said, Jio really wanted to increase their count. Btw it was for Mumbai circle which is class A circle so maybe they might have fallen short of MSC Codes at some point of time but could not risk new subscriber acquisition.

Buddy, I did not mean my connection was closed in few months. It was closed after around 10-11 months wef April 2017.
I don't know about Jio's policy on today's date.
From my experience, fastest deactivations occur in Airtel. BSNL and AIRCEL numbers typically stay live (without O/G and I/G) for a long time after stopping recharge.

Jio is giving 1 year unlimited service for Rs 588 (49*12) in jio phone, what else one can provide? They are the best in price point.
You are correct brother, as far as it is about most of us tech savvy and salaried people. But taking all operators' current scenario (except BSNL), there is a huge section in Indian society for whom 49 rupees per month is a big deal too, and so is 35 rupees. Some use only for incoming and essential O/G calls.
Jio's move followed by current AVoId's move has definitely been against consumer interest of quite a good chunk of our society.

Any one recharge Rs.35/- in Idea prepaid with main balance?

I don't agree, Rs 588 for 1 year is very cheap and now if you see everyone carries mobile with jio sim even the poorest can afford it.

Another googly by Vodafone. Received SMS:
Hi,you are on new plan wef 23Oct18. To extend service validity by 28 days, recharge with RC24 or above.

Now what is this RC24? All this while it was 35. Now down to 24. And what "new plan" ? Seriously these telcos have gone nuts.

TRAI should just reject all such gimmicks and tell them to continue as it was before.

So BSNL doesn't disconnect even after 10 month
Usually all companies disconnect within 6 month of inactivity on sim
