70 percent of Indian students own smartphones !

A recent survey has found out that more than 70 percent of students in
India own a personal smartphone. The survey was conducted by software
services firm TCS and found out that the maximum users of the
smartphones were found in smaller cities rather than metropolitan cities.
TCS conducted this survey on nearly 17,500 high school students across 14
cities in India. The 6 out of 10 respondents who participated in the survey
own a smartphone. The noteworthy finding is that the pattern of ownership
is same in metros and mini metros. 58.50 percent of students and 59.3
percent students in mini metros have smartphones where students from
mini metros leading.
"The survey shows the increasing comfort levels that the Post-Millennial
generation exhibit with digital technology, social networking, smart phones
and gaming, which helps us create conditions to unleash their creativity
and innovativeness," TCS Executive Vice President and Global Head HR Ajoy
Mukherjee said.
7 out of 10 students owned there mobile phones and 20 percent said that
they used there mobiles to access the internet which is a massive increase
since 2009 where only 12 percent of the students used internet. 83.3
percent of the students have Facebook Accounts and 91 percent claimed
Facebook is their most preferred social networking site.
The survey also found that Samsung is the most popular brand with 48.28 percent of the students owing Samsung
products. Nokia had 46.6 percent followers and Apple was third with 39.56 percent respondents.
