Takkar is speaking as if he gets to call the shots with respect to tariffs. He is in the back seat right now with Ambani and Mittal in the driving seat. The pricing strategy will be decided by Jio and Airtel. Vi will just have to adjust their tariffs to stay relevant in the market in their shadow.
They still follow Airtel with premium pricing without premium network like a hutch dog :ROFLMAO:

Expecting Rs.999 plan (84 days) will be back with 3 GB/day on Jio 5G and other plan prices will increase @20% from 1st Dec as per last year.
These are already there as 4G plans. 5G plans will be 15-20% costlier with respect to Jio. 30% costlier on Airtel/Vi.

Expecting Rs.499/- per month with 5GB/day from Airtel & Vi and Rs.399/- per month on Jio 5G.
5G will have 10GB/day for 599 from Airtel and 399 from Jio for 28 days. Anything less than 10GB/day is waste according to me. Wastage of 100Mhz spectrum and chance to earn revenues.

Airtel is not in drivers seat for sure. Have long way to go ahead to match Jio. They are marginally ahead of Vi.

The way I see it, at the time of launch 5G will be priced the same as existing 4G, with users on existing 4G plans being eligible to directly latch on to 5G network. If they price 5G at a premium then most ppl who are satisfied with 4G speeds where they are already able to stream videos on mobile in HD without buffering won't have an incentive to upgrade to a 5G plan and the network congestion won't be resolved.

Contrary to popular belief 5G spectrum is actually cheaper bandwidth than 4G even with the higher speeds being offered, since they use higher frequency C-band and mmWave spectrum which is lower priced than traditional 4G bands (only the 700 MHz spectrum is costlier than traditional 3G and 4G spectrum).

So even though the higher speed offering will be a lure for the subscribers, the pricing if at a premium over 4G will not manage to get the desired number of users and will lead to under-utilisation of the 5G spectrum. Which in turn will fail to decongest the traditional 4G network and to improve the network experience for the end users.

When the tariff hike comes it will again be common for the 4G and 5G plans alike.

I think it will be entry level 5G plan for 84 days with 3 GB/day or 5 GB/day to cross Rs.300+ figure by 4G consumers.

Jio will launch 5g in 9 cities initially includes Hyderabad, later rollout to 1000 cities.
