MIB directs broadcasters to carry ticker about DD Sports during live coverage of key sporting events
MUMBAI: In a controversial move, the ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has directed broadcasters to run a ticker during live coverage of sporting events of national importance that the event can also be viewed on DD Sports channel.
All channels broadcasting live sports events of national importance have to display a ticker stating, ‘This match/ game can also be viewed on DD Sports channel on DD Free Dish DTH and DD’s terrestrial network on free-to-air basis’.

Riding on the success of its flagship devices like Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy A8+ and the newly-launched S9 and S9+, Samsung climbed back to the top in the premium smartphone segment in India with over 50 per cent market share in the first quarter of 2018

OnePlus remained at the second position with 25 per cent market share and Apple at the third spot with 20 percent. Apple's share in the premium segment fell as the volumes dipped by a massive 55 per cent due to decline in shipments for its iPhone 8 and X series.

OTF Exclusive Sky sports official broadcaster for Ireland cricket against India t20 & Pak test

Sky Sports has secured the rights to broadcast ball-by-ball coverage of Ireland's inaugural Test - against Pakistan - and the T20I series against India.
Ireland will take on Pakistan in their inaugural Test, from 11-15 May, before tackling India in two T20Is in late June.

Andres Iniesta has confirmed he will leave Barcelona at the end of the season after 22 years associated with the club.
Iniesta is expected to continue his career in China but says his next move is yet to be finalised. The 33-year-old reiterated, however, he would never play against Barcelona.

One97 Communications Limited, that owns the brand Paytm , announced in its official statement that the new offering is in sync with the company’s vision to provide innovative and seamless payments solutions for non-internet customers. It enables Non-internet users to make digital payments.

This card uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to enable safe and convenient digital payments, completely offline at Paytm-issued, NFC PoS terminals, in under a second. To make payments, users can add money from their Paytm account by scanning the QR code on the Tap Card and by authenticating it at any of the add value machines (AVM). Merchants will get Paytm-issued NFC PoS Terminals. Users won’t have any issue with the time taken for the transaction that will be less than 0.5 secs. This payment procedure is useful for high footfall areas like events, offices and schools and colleges.

Breaking ICC grants T20I status to all 104 member countries

The International Cricket Council announced on Thursday (April 26) that all its 104 member nations - both men and women's team - will be granted T20I status.


ICC CEO David Richardson confirmed the development in a press conference in Kolkata, and also stated that a global ranking system will be launched for the format.

13 school kids dead after train hits van in UP

The school van was carrying 18 children, all students of Divine Public School. At least 11 children were killed on the spot after their school van was hit by the Siwan-Gorakhpur passenger train at around 7.10 am today.

Two more children are reported to have died later. The driver of the school van has also died, taking the death toll up to 13.

The railway crossing where the accident took place is said to have been unmanned. The gate mitra (volunteer manning the crossing) deployed there, Arvind Bharati, had tried to stop the accident, but failed.
