Man gets assaulted for complaining about overcharges over pantry of Indian Railways

I guess this deserve a thread of it's own. A man traveling in Hemkunt Express was beaten up on camera for complaining about overcharges of pantry items. He was asked to get down of his compartment. After refusing to get down. Pantry manager got up beat up and scratched the guy. I am pretty sure Indian Railways will sack the guy and ban the contractor. The contractor will again outsource his contract to someone and continue doing this. How come this kind of things frequently happen? How do they hire people out of thin air? Recently youtuber Mohit's phone almost got snatched by some alleged train worker. Where is the accountability? After overcrowding and accidents which is understandable because of high population and high toll on tracks. Passengers getting beaten up for valid complaint is a new low for Indian Railways.

Seeking Help VLAN on JioFiber

Hello Folks,

I have several IoT devices connected to my 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Recently, while browsing Twitter, I came across a post where someone mentioned setting up VLAN on their Asus router to isolate IoT devices. The idea was that if an IoT device were compromised, the rest of the home network would remain unaffected.

I'm not entirely sure if VLANs are the right solution for my case, but my main goal is to securely connect my IoT devices and keep them isolated from critical devices like personal computers or NAS if that an yes does jiofiber router has this?

Any advice or suggestions on the best way to secure IoT devices on a home network?

Seeking Help Need help in buying Fire TV stick

Hey guys, i am currently using Tata play and I am shifting to ott now because there is no good content in TV nowdays, I have used an local android TV box earlier which was somehow okay but stopped working in some months only, but atleast I got to know that smart devices like android TV boxes and TV sticks are far better than DTH for me atleast,

Coming to main point I have found fire TV stick best fit for me so, I created this thread to seek some help in buying fire TV stick and clearing some doubts about it,

• Firstly I have some confusion in what generation is available, as Amazon is not mentioning about what generation they are selling, is it 3rd gen or new https://amzn.in/d/1t826Uz .

• Second confusion is about warranty in Amazon product page there is no mention of any warranty but on Flipkart page there is 1 year warranty mentioned.

• Third confusion is that are Flipkart and Amazon selling same version/generation of fire TV stick or diffrent (both links attached).

https://amzn.in/d/4VvqyT1

• And lastly I was thinking to buy fire TV stick in prime day sale, in discount it was 1999 or 2199 last year, but on Flipkart it's available for little less than 1799 ( if I somehow manage to get some supercoins I can get it for 1772 around), so guys where should I buy it now on Flipkart or I should wait for prime day sale, thanks in advance for all of your time and suggestion/help.

Seeking Help My Experience Trying to Get a Prepaid Internet Connection for a Government School (Airtel Xstream Fiber)

In October 2024, my mom, who is a headmistress at a government school, needed a reliable internet connection for school work, as mobile internet in the area was almost non-functional. They specifically wanted a prepaid broadband connection. I stepped in to help.

  1. JioFiber:
I noticed JioFiber cables on nearby poles but no fatbox. When I contacted them, the installation guy said the infrastructure was new and would take another month. He pushed me to take Jio AirFiber instead, but I declined since it wasn't what we needed.
  2. Local ISPs:
I reached out to a few local providers, but their responses were vague and none offered prepaid plans.
  3. Airtel:
Airtel's sales rep responded promptly via WhatsApp. I repeatedly told him we wanted a prepaid connection. He confirmed it was possible and came to the school the next day for verification. He offered a ₹499 plan for 12 months, claiming it was prepaid. I paid the full amount. Soon after installation, I received a message: “Welcome to Airtel Postpaid.”
Shocked and angry, I contacted the sales guy—he claimed he'd talk to his manager, then blocked me.

I went to the Airtel office the next day. The manager told me Airtel doesn't offer prepaid broadband in urban area, only in rural regions. Also said they cannot convert a postpaid connection to prepaid .I asked to cancel the connection and get a refund. She said I could disconnect anytime and would receive a refund for the unused months. Since JioFiber was expected soon, we decided to wait and use Airtel temporarily.

March 2025:
I saw JioFiber posters near the school and noticed the fatbox had been installed. I applied for cancellation of Airtel. The router was picked up by Delhivery, and I was told the refund would take 45 days from disconnection.

Then I contacted JioFiber. I again asked specifically for a prepaid plan. The rep said I’d need to pay ₹1,000 for installation plus ₹399 × 3 months. This felt off, because when we installed JioFiber at home, we only paid ₹1,000 for the router and ₹399 + GST for a true prepaid plan.

Since it was the start of summer vacation, we delayed installation until late May.

May 2025:
School reopened earlier than expected. I contacted Jio customer care and was shocked to hear they now only offer postpaid connections for new customers. So apparently, the Jio rep I spoke to earlier was also misselling me. :(

Now, after months of effort, I feel like my time and energy were completely wasted.

Question:
Is it true that Airtel only offers prepaid broadband in rural areas? I’ve seen people getting prepaid connection in this forum
