Discussion Expansion of Jio & Airtel Optical Fiber no longer happening after the entry of AirFiber?

One thing to notice that airtel is a very old player compare to jio but still airtel doesn't persist in all areas when jio is available in majority areas
Yes. Airtel Broadband was not even present on all Indian states, leave smaller or medium cities apart until a few years back. Now they are giving tough competition to Jio when Jio gave up on their Fiber expansion and shifted focus towards AirFiber. 😄

I noticed something interesting: the newly installed FAT boxes are smaller in size than the previous Airtel FAT boxes I've seen in other places, like on YouTube. It seems Airtel may have recently changed the box design to a more compact size.
Something about this:

This time the new FAT boxes are the regular ones that we see on YouTube. I enquired about it with the Airtel construction people and they said it depends on the vendor who supplies the materials.

@Bapun bro, whats the update on your end ? You had said that Airtel has entered your locality as well ???
They have stopped doing work in my locality after cabling was done. Now covering other nearby areas and even in some areas they have installed new FAT boxes.

I am expecting them to install FAT boxes in my area soon as they mentioned it should be live by the end of this month. 👀

Seeking Help What is the procedure to disconnect BSNL FTTH + Landline connection?

Will there be any reactivation charges ??? I feel no installation charges will be taken if there is alreay an installed setup.
Yes, it should be free of cost. Because you have the setup already. But depends on the vendor (LCO) too. If he wants/demands money then no other way than paying some kharcha paani.

You're welcome. In case you don't know, BSNL also provides a safe custody plan, with that you can keep the inactive connection (without internet or landline access) but installed. They charges a minimal monthly pricing for it.

I had kept my BSNL connection in safe custody for three months after shifting to local ISP years ago.

You can find more details here: Safe Custody Plan

However, knowing it's BSNL, the pricing mentioned on their website may not be current/recent.

Update:

Finally after much wait, itseems fiber deployment is almost close to my area.

Lets hope to get a new Airtel OFC connection very soon
I expect you can get fiber with iptv soon as iptv commercial launch might happen before this month end. :D

Seeking Help What is the procedure to disconnect BSNL FTTH + Landline connection?

Is it possible say to opt for a new FTTH connection if a consumer already has an old disconnected FTTH setup ?

Meaning BSNL just has to issue a new account no/landline no to an existing setup from their end and activate it.
Yes, you can reapply for a new connection after disconnection.

If the existing landline number hasn't been allotted to another person, you can get the same landline number too. I am saying this based on my personal experience where I have got the same landline number twice with two different connections. However, we need to visit the telephone exchange for it.

Breaking Airtel IPTV is now launched - discuss about availability here

Airtel could have planned the launch better, in my opinion. 😟
For the launch of their very first Android OS-based STB - the Airtel Internet TV which was launched before Xstream DTH came to market, Airtel had organized a launch event with press interaction. Such events give better insights about the product but these days media interaction by telcos and DTH operators is rarely seen. The gap leaves the end users confused.

This was the Airtel Internet TV launch event video:

How much would be the monthly fees after adding another STB ???
Airtel has shared a list of FAQs (frequently asked questions). However, the monthly charges for additional IPTV connections remain undisclosed so far.

In fact lots of things remain unclear with the new Airtel IPTV soft launch. Our members here have been kind enough to try it and find answers for those. Airtel could have planned the launch better, in my opinion. 😟
