Telecom service provider Bharti Airtel has launched Xstream AirFiber to offer fixed wireless access (FWA) solution based on 5G technology. The service aims to provide high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity to homes in rural and urban areas in India where fiber broadband is not feasible. Airtel Xstream AirFiber is currently available in Delhi and Mumbai and will roll out to other cities in a phased manner.
“India has seen the rapid growth of home broadband but there still remain areas with no access to hi-speed internet at home due to the physical challenges of laying fiber in a country the size of India. While fiber to the home will always define the best experience of Wi-Fi at home, AirFiber helps bridge the experience gap for everyone else. Today, we are delighted to launch Xstream AirFiber for consumers in Delhi and Mumbai with a pan-India rollout planned soon,” said Shashwat Sharma, Director – Consumer Business of Bharti Airtel.
Airtel Xstream AirFiber device specifications
Xstream AirFiber is a plug-and-play device with Wi-Fi 6 technology, which offers a wider range and better indoor coverage and can simultaneously connect up to 64 devices. The device can deliver up to 50 percent higher speed than Wi-Fi 5 routers with lower battery consumption of connected devices and improved Wi-Fi password security.
