While the app has been live on Android TV platform since May end, the access to it was restricted with Bharti Airtel back then stating that the access to Airtel Xstream on Android TV was only limited to Airtel Xstream Box and Airtel Xstream Fiber users.

Airtel prepaid and postpaid customers were back then unable to access content on the Android TV app of Airtel Xstream app. The newly introduced Android TV specific plan seems to be for Airtel’s prepaid and postpaid customers who were earlier unable to access the app on Android TV. The plan was spotted by an OnlyTech team member who is subscribed to an unlimited prepaid plan on Airtel.

  1. Not worth it. Same shows except the ones from Curiosity Stream can be streamed for free via Vodafone Play which supports Chromecast and MX Player for TV.

I don’t get what Airtel is thinking here. Why put a premium paywall for their customers while competition is offering complimentary access.

    • Even Jio Cinema supports Chromecast and has an Android TV app as well. As for Curiosity Stream content, now even that has left Airtel Xstream, so it’s not at all worth paying the 499 for.
