Telecom giant Bharti Airtel yesterday announced that it would offer benefits worth Rs 270 crore to help 55 million low income customers to tide over the impact of COVID-19. The special benefits will help Airtel’s low income customers remain on its network during the ongoing pandemic.

The company as a one-time gesture is offering Rs 49 pack Free of cost to over 55 million low income customers. Airtel’s Rs 49 Smart Recharge pack offers Rs 38 talktime and 100 MB data with 28 days validity. The gesture will empower over 55 million customers mainly in rural areas to stay connected and access critical information when needed.

Separately, Airtel in other news keeping in mind the increased requirement of staying connected has doubled the benefits on its Rs 79 Recharge Coupon. The Smart Recharge pack is now offering double benefits including Rs 128 talktime and 200 MB data with 28 days validity.

The benefits will be available to eligible Airtel customers in the coming weeks. The announcement comes shortly after Reliance Jio announced 300 minutes of outgoing voice calls per month free to all JioPhone users. The company further to enhance affordability for every JioPhone plan recharged by JioPhone will offer an additional recharge plan of the same value for free.
