Airtel discontinues Rs 179 prepaid plan and Rs 279 prepaid plan offering Insurance benefits

Airtel discontinues Life Cover prepaid plans at Rs 179 and Rs 279 UPP. The former offered Life Insurance from Bharti AXA while the latter offered Life Insurance from HDFC.

Telecom giant Bharti Airtel has recently discontinued its Rs 179 and Rs 279 prepaid plan. The prepaid plans that used to offer Life Insurance are no longer available for new subscriptions through Airtel’s website or Airtel Thanks App.

Airtel’s Rs 179 prepaid plan used to offer 2GB high-speed data, unlimited calling, 300 SMS per day, and access to Wynk Music and Airtel XStream App with tariff validity of 28 calendar days.

The prepaid plan also offered a monthly life insurance cover of INR 2,00,000/- for subscribers who had been on the Airtel network for a minimum of 30 days at the time of recharging their Airtel number with this STV.

Airtel’s Rs 279 prepaid plan used to offer unlimited calling, 1.5GB high-speed data per day, 100 SMS per day, access to Wynk Music and Airtel XStream app, and tariff validity of 28 calendar days.

The prepaid plan also offered a monthly life insurance cover of benefit of INR 4 lakhs for death (except suicide) for a period of 1 year if the customer continuously recharged with the same Airtel Recharge.

Airtel’s unlimited offerings in the below Rs 200 segment are now limited to Rs 19, Rs 129, Rs 149, and Rs 199 prepaid plan only.
