Earlier this month, Airtel started testing artificial intelligence (AI) based assistant on its Airtel Thanks app. Initially, the assistant did not work and on asking any question was giving an error message. Now, the telecom operator has fixed most of the issues and even added more options. The assistant is also available on the latest stable version of the Airtel Thanks app.
Airtel users can access the AI-based assistant by tapping on the mic icon, which is available on the bottom-right screen of Airtel Thanks home page. For now, the default language of the assistant is Hindi, and there is no option to change the language. You can choose a query from the suggestions or ask the assistant about data usage, account balance, bill amount, etc. You can ask the assistant either with voice or by typing.
Airtel subscribers can use the assistant to fetch their account details such as data balance, account balance and validity. Users can also ask the assistant about latest offers, recharge plans, data packs, payment history, and more.
Jio and Vodafone Idea also offers AI-based assistant on their respective apps. The AI assistant on Jio and Vodafone app also gives an option to chat with a real person if the assistant cannot handle the query. This feature still lacks on the Airtel assistant. However, we can expect Airtel to add more features and language support to the assistant soon.
