Off late the times have been tough for e-commerce platforms like Snapdeal, Flipkart and Amazon where their operations have become limited to the delivery of essentials amidst the lockdown. At such a time, the number of daily active users on these platforms has understandably taken a plunge. To combat this, Snapdeal has followed in the footsteps of rival e-commerce giant Flipkart by launching a free video-on-demand service that is accessible from within its app.
Having free to stream video content had proven to be highly successful in increasing customer engagement and time spent on the app for Flipkart and now Snapdeal hopes to replicate the same on its own platform with this deal with Hungama Play.
The partnership brings to the table short-format content, movies, television shows, and short films across various genres in more than 15 languages like Hindi, English, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali and Gujarati among others.
The Xiaomi-backed firm has curated a library of 41,500 short-format videos across various categories like comedy, film gossip, spiritual, fashion and lifestyle along with more than 150 short films. It will also offer over 400 films, television shows, and Hungama Originals.
Snapdeal said in a statement.
Currently, the Hungama Play video content is available in the Snapdeal app where it is displayed in a carousel format on the home page and clicking on which opens the Hungama Play dedicated page with all content listed category wise.
