National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) is introducing two new Internet Exchange Points (IXP) of NIXI at Durgapur and Bardham in line with MeitY’s vision of 1000 days.
NIXI is expanding its footprint in the state by introducing the two new Internet Exchange Points. The first Internet Exchange in West Bengal at Kolkata is also run by NIXI. The launch of these new IXPs in the state will help improve the internet and broadband services in the state at the local level and in the neighbouring areas.
The internet service providers connecting at these points will benefit from the improvement to the broadband services being provided to their end-users. The opening up of the IXPs will benefit every sector of the state ranging from health, education, agriculture, startup, MSME ecosystems, and various other business verticals.
The accessibility and convenience will also increase for citizens in availing government benefits apart from improving the quality of life.
NIXI has plans to install such internet exchanges in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities in the near future to improve the overall Indian internet ecosystem and to give internet users access at a low cost with improved speed. NIXI has invited all internet service providers to establish peering at any of its nodes to support the domestic internet ecosystem.
