The Ministry of Information Technology (MeitY) yesterday banned 59 mobile apps invoking the section 69A of the Information Technology Act to protect the interest of crores of Indian mobile and internet users. The decision is moved to ensure the safety and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace.
The Ministry in a press release stated that the 59 apps were indulging in activities that were prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, security of state and public order.
The Ministry stated that it had recently noted that such concerns caused a threat to sovereignty and security of the country and that it had received many complaints about misuse of mobile apps available on Android and iOS platforms for stealing and transmitting user data in unauthorized manner to servers located out of India.
Noting that the compilation of data was a national security threat which needed emergency measures, it stated that the MHA and ICCCC along with many citizens had raised concerns regarding the security of the data with CERT-IN also receiving many representations from citizens on security of data and breach.
The Ministry noted that on the basis of the credible inputs received against the apps which a pose a threat to the security of India, the Government of India had decided to disallow the usage of these apps.
TikTok. Shareit. UC Browser, DU Battery saver, Helo, Likee, Mi Community, Club Factory, UC News, Bigo Live, Parallel Space, Mi Video Call – Xiaomi, ES File Explorer, Viva Video, Vigo Video, DU Recorder, Cam Scanner, among others are some of the known apps in the list of banned mobile apps.

I hope this isn’t a temporary ban and it is a PERMANENT ban. Moreover they should stop access to the already installed apps and in that way it will be a clean sweep if not it won’t make much of a difference.
They Are Going To Ban The Usage Also As Their Servers Will Be Blocked By ISPs Like Jio,Airtel, Vodafone As How The Blocked Websites Thing Work.
