Jio Platforms, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, has launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) platform called Jio Brain, which aims to integrate machine learning (ML) capabilities into various IT environments, such as telecom networks, enterprise networks, and industry-specific applications.
“This platform has been developed after a research and development effort for two years by hundreds of engineers,” said Aayush Bhatnagar, Senior Vice President at Jio Platforms on LinkedIn. The platform offers a set of over 500 REST Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and data APIs for creating ML-based services. Moreover, it will also deliver advanced AI features for images, videos, text, documents, speech, and in-built AI algorithms as an on-demand service.
According to Aayush Bhatnagar, Jio Brain will enable new 5G services, transform enterprises, enhance networks, and prepare for 6G innovation, where ML is essential.
Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, in August 2023, announced to develop India-specific AI models and solutions. Further, he announced the plans to create up to 2,000 MW of AI-ready computing capacity across cloud and edge locations.
Jio Platforms, in September 2023, announced its collaboration with Nvidia to build cloud-based AI compute infrastructure using Nvidia’s advanced GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip and Nvidia DGX Cloud. The AI infrastructure, hosted in AI-ready computing data centers, is set to expand to 2,000 MW, with execution and implementation managed by Jio.
