Public secotr major ITI Limited today announced that it has bagged a work order from Tamil Nadu Fibrenet Corporation Limited (TANIFNET) regarding BharatNet Phase-II in Tamil Nadu for Package D. The work order contract is worth Rs 432.97 crores and will be implemented by ITI Limited within a time period of 360 days. ITI Limited will further manage the operations and maintenance from the date of ‘Project Go-Live’. The company will lay around 15000 kilometres of fiber cable including underground and aerial fiber to connect gram panchayats with blocks, district centers, and state headquarter.
ITI Limited will cover 10 districts, 109 blocks, 3103 gram panchayats, 845 revenue villages across the length and breadth of Tamil Nadu state providing a minimum of 1 Gbps bandwidth service. The scope of work includes planning, survey, supply, installation, commissioning, testing, end-to-end integration, operation and maintenance of optical fibre network (OFN), and electronics for broadband connectivity under BharatNet Phase-III for Tamil Nadu for Package D.
The package also comprises of radio connectivity for gram panchayats which cannot be connected through fiber along with the implementation of horizontal connectivity to government premises, schools, and primary health centres (PHCs).
