A brand new feature is slowing rolling out to YouTube users on Android and iOS devices, one that will surely make them happy. Google has just announced it is now allowing YouTube users to choose the playback speed of the videos they are watching.

Variable speed playback is available on the desktop app for several years now but only made it to mobiles this week, even though it was the most highly requested features.

Once Google finishes rolling out the new feature, YouTube users will be able to speed up or slow down videos in the iOS and Android apps. According to developers, the playback speed can be adjusted from 0.25x (quarter speed) to 2x (double speed) via the overflow menu of the player controls.

The new YouTube app is screwed at its best YouTube is just going back and forth with it's design first it took away the white from the app now it has done away with the Red and the logo is a disaster looks like someone made it in MS Paint

It has been nearly two years since the launch of YouTube Red, or as I like to say: The subscription that lets you actually watch YouTube. Prior to that, it was called YouTube Music Key and only served music videos and enabled background and offline playback. Now it looks like there might be a new subscription tier called YouTube Plus coming soon.

Even more ads when we change videos from one to other, skip in 5 sec. thing also gone from some ads.

• A recent YouTube app teardown revealed that the option to enable a dark theme could arrive in a future update.
• Another feature that could make its way to the app is Incognito mode.
• Because these features were found in the code, there is no guarantee they will see the light of day.
