Shin injury forces Joel Paris to withdraw from IPL
Australian paceman Joel Paris will miss
the upcoming Indian Premier League
due to a shin injury, the Western
Australian Cricket Association
announced on Thursday (April 7).
Paris, who was bought by the Delhi
Daredevils for INR 30 lakhs (AUD $
63,000), sustained the shin injury late
in Western Australia's Sheffield Shield
campaign to put a sour ending on a
watershed season for the 23-year-old.
The left-armer made his first-class
debut for WA in November last year
before playing two One-Day
Internationals for Australia against
India in January. His sole wicket in
those matches was Indian opener
Shikhar Dhawan in his second game. In
six Shield matches, Paris starred with
35 wickets at 19.57 and had an
astounding strike rate of wicket every

Lasith Malinga unlikely to play first half of IPL 2016: Ricky Ponting
Lasith Malinga could be replaced by
the likes of Merchant de Lange or Tim
Southee in the Mumbai line-up early
on in the season
Ricky Ponting, Mumbai Indians' coach,
has said on Thursday (April 7) that
Lasith Malinga, their bowling
spearhead, hasn't fully recovered from
his persistent knee injury and is
unlikely to take part in the first half of
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016.
Malinga, who sustained a bone bruise
in his left knee during the home series
against West Indies last year, was
ruled out of the tour of New Zealand.
Malinga returned to the squad for the
Asia Cup 2016, but could play only a
solitary game against UAE before he
aggravated the knee injury. He also
