Sad News Truecaller might have a Data Breach

Data of Indian users, who make up 60-70% of Truecaller’s user base of about 140 million, is being sold for about Rs 1.5 lakh (2000 Euros) on the so-called dark web, while data of global users is priced as high as 25000 Euros.

No use now bro. Its too late. Data has been leaked and listed publicly already as the article states. It will be sold to various telemarketers too undoubtedly.

I never trusted it. At time of installation that app takes a lot of permissions, by default it shows call details after every call to make money advertising. That's why I have manually turned off all unnecessary permissions and features, also never added my email address or photo. But my Number is Leaked

I have no idea what they do with location, storage or microphone permission.

They track your location to show it when someone searches it. Microphobe probably would recording your calls without notifying you.

I never installed this App. But that doesnt matter. Others who have my number and have installed this app, have already given my number to Truecaller, something that I didnt want to happen. But cannot be controlled.

A masterstroke of an idea by the creator. And yeah, we really cant control who all have our number- we provide to many people on need basis, lets say just acquaintances. If they install this app, then we're done.

OMG, they also have UPI based payments called TrueCaller Pay, this company should be blacklisted by RBI after this.

Exactly. I haven;t installed. But the most important detail - phone number, has already got shared due to others using the App
